Features to know about

Tighter Control on the Road: 7/8" Solid Chromoly Bar Cuts Sway

That uneasy rocking and side-to-side roll can make any drive more tiring than it needs to be. The 7/8" solid 4140 chromoly steel bar ties the rear axle to the frame to balance the vehicle’s movement through turns and over uneven surfaces. It keeps the ride level, handles quick maneuvers with confidence, and holds its line when crosswinds or passing traffic try to push you around.

Long-Term Strength: Polyurethane Bushings and Powder-Coated Steel

This setup is built to last. Polyurethane bushings resist damage from oil, gasoline, and ozone, so they won’t squish out or wear down quickly. That means more consistent support and less give in the system. The bar’s silver vein hammer tone powder coat and the black powder-coated mounting brackets add corrosion resistance and a clean, durable finish that stands up to years of use.

Less Fatigue on Long Drives: Stable, Predictable Handling

Constant steering corrections in crosswinds or when towing can wear you out fast. By reducing sway and keeping the vehicle balanced, this bar cuts the effort it takes to stay centered on the road. The result is steadier handling and less strain on the driver, especially on long highway runs or rough pavement.

Straightforward Install: Bolt-On Design Reuses Factory Hardware

No drilling or complicated modifications here. The bar bolts right up using the existing factory end links and hardware, with mounting brackets and hardware included. It’s a simple, direct-fit setup that gets you back on the road with better balance and control in less time.

sway bar adds strength to handle heavy tow and stability during normal driving. The big beast is actually much smoother with this and the Sumo spring helpers. It takes the annoying bounce out of the empty low weight drive also. Highly recommend!

Sumo and Hellwig working excellent together. Tow regularly near max weight and am very satisfied with the improvement in handling, leveling, and ride. I was afraid the unloaded ride would be stiff but it hasnt been affected. In fact, handling has improved over all.

Easy on and has worked fine for our purposes of allow an 2021 Expedition Max to tow better. It does a good job. We’re pleased after a year.

The only complaint I have is the shipping was via USPS which I did not expect. I assumed with a large car part, this would be shipped via FedEx or UPS. Thankfully I did receive it though and it worked very well.

2020 Ford Expedition
Great product that works to perfection on my 2020 Ford Expedition. I wanted less sway when on a less than great highway. And that’s what we have achieved.

Thank you Etrailer and especially Gabby for answering a few technical and part number questions. The Etrailer YouTube tutorials were very beneficial in helping complete this DIY project, no problem! The upgrades with the Hellwig front and rear sway bars improved the handling and reduced the rock-n-roll sway across rough roads and in the corners as well as large trucks and busses passing by. The upgrades also included a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. This Thor Freedom Elite 25’ E350 chassis now drives more like a big pickup truck instead of a large RV. Thank you Etrailer, Hellwig and Safe-T-Plus. We’re ready to hit the road for long trips with confidence!!

Glad to hear you are liking it, Mark! It's amazing how much stuff like this can help the overall experience! ^___^ What's the first trip you have planned now that you upgraded?

The instructions say to use the original mounting nuts on the new bracket. However, the holes on the bracket are too large requiring the use of washers to avoid the nuts from being partially in the holes. For the amount paid, you would think it would come with all of the appropriate mounting hardware. Not happy being delayed until a run to the hardware store for install.
I hope the ride is at least improved.

Apologies for the inconvenience Jason, We definitely understand the frustration of having to unexpectedly run to the hardware store, especially when the instructions make it sound like you have everything needed to install. We appreciate the feedback and we hope the improved ride quality makes up for some of the inconvenience once you get everything dialed in. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and we appreciate you choosing etrailer!

Ordering was simple with the help of Andy. Item was delivered a day early.
We purchased the Hellwig front sway bar. Have only driven the unit back to storage (about 4 miles) so haven't been able to experience the end product. Can't wait to hit the road and not sway into another lane from an 18 wheeler going by us

Can't wait to hear how your first trip goes, Deborah!

The sway bar is definitely beefy and well made. Now that it’s installed I’m pleased with it and hope it helps with cross winds. Two small issues with the install. First we were missing the 2.75” bolts and Hellwig shipped them to me FedEx two day no questions asked but still a delay. Second, the U-Shape brackets are way too tight. Watched a video on YouTube and the guy warned us on this. There is no need for it to be this tight. Need to flex out the U brackets to squeeze in the washers. It’s almost impossible. Lastly the boxing of the bar is inadequate, it needs to be secured in better.

2026 Ford F-150
Installed on 2026 F150 Tremor 402B. As the stock sway bar is even softer than the standard F150 HD bar to allow for more independant movement when offroading, this leads to increased body roll while onroad. The Hellwig sway bar exceeded my expectations for stabilizing and flattening the truck in turns. To have the trucks full offroad capability I just need to disconect the endlinks.Truck now handles incredibly well onroad, which is where is will mostly be driven. Installation was easy.

Thanks for the help on determining if my sway bar link is ok to use on my 2001 Ford E350 or if it's at too much of an angle. Attached are a couple of pictures I took of my install.

Please let me know if there is anything additional I can provide.

Really improved the handling. Passing trucks on the interstate isn't as uncomfortable anymore. Generally I can now drive one handed. One person can change them but two would be easier.

2023 Ford E-Series Cutaway
material quality appears to be excellent. My issue is with the fit. The clamps are significantly bigger than the original OEM clamps so the sway bar did not bolt right in to the original mounts. I had to modify the clamps to get the bolt holes to line up. Then when installing the end links, I found that the bolts were 2" short! I called the manufacturer and was very pleasently surprised when a human being answered the phone and directed my call to a specialist who promised to send the correct bolts and spacers for my rig. My RV is now stuck in my driveway, unable to move, until the parts get here.
by:
Fitment is a little tricky but with a little care not bad at all.

The additional effective spring rate when off camber is incredibly obvious and even with a loaded 250 lb RTT at roof height the truck feels very stable over uneven surfaces.

On normal bumps there is no additional harshness.

Highly recommended for 1st gen Tacomas with any amount of weight in the bed.
by:
We added the rear anti sway bars and steering stabilizer a few months after the front anti bars. All three make a world of difference driving our Class C motorhome. Wind and large trucks passing can still be felt but there's more control and quicker recovery.
by:
The installation went well. Lots of rolling on the ground! Allowed two hours was closer to four hours when completed. Will need to get some mileage on the motor home to determine if it was worth it.

Glad the tall wasn't too bad, Terry! Even if it took a bit to get done. Definitely let us know how it handles going down the road as well. I think you will be happy with it! : )

Glad this is making a difference Shawn and thanks for including the photo! What are you usually hauling with your RAM?

by:
This product is a very beefy anti-sway bar that significantly reduced wind induced sway and vehicle lean when turning compared to the stock anti-sway bar.

In spite of my five-star rating, Hellwig should properly size the clevis on each end link. The u-plate separation differed by at least a quarter inch between the two. Both required some widening to accommodate washers and sway bar (which seems to be a common complaint).

2015 Winnebago View Motorhome
Swaybay arrived on time and well packed. Installation fairly straightforward, but the bolts on my factory bar were very tight to loosen. I watched some videos on installation the Hellwig. One suggestion i recommend is to the coat the new bushings with soapy water to help when preceding on the castings. I was able to do the swap by myself. The factory bar was 1 1/8” so the Hellwig is much beefier. I haven’t driven this much, but in a test drive the side to side sway in noticeably reduced.
by:
Nearly 100% effective in preventing the dreaded semi-truck passing swing and sway on a 28’ Class C. Installation was easy even for a very amateur guy who hates working on machines. My compliments to e-trailer for the great videos.
First trip in this unit (IN to ND and back)was all white knuckles. The last trip (about 250 mi) was relaxing and I just grinned and waved as the trucks sped by. Well worth the $.

2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Great delivery and super easy to install. Noticed a much bigger difference after replacing the rear sway bar with the hellwig bar than the front one. The factory front sway bar is already like 1 1/8 thick but the factory rear bar is only like 7/8 thick. I would start by replacing the rear first and then replace the front if you still want more. Overall very happy with the combination of the new front and back bars from hellwig.
by:
I'm using both front and rear swaybars by Hellwig, along with a Safe T Plus steering stabilizer, and it's been like night and day when compared to what was OEM in my '25 Ford E450. I no longer experience the super flighty feeling when driving in high winds, and, while I won't say it drives just like my car, it is a much more solid and stable, and relaxed, driving experience.

Purchased this rear sway bar for a 2026 Ford Bronco. Greatly improved the on-road handling and stability.

This with sumo front and rear and Bilstein shocks bought locally improved the stability of our sprinter class C by multiple factors.
The handling went from sucking to this is pretty good. Why did we wait 2 years?

That's awesome Jeff! Glad to hear your setup is working well for you!

My rig was equipped with one inch sway bars, front and back. Today was my first trip since I installed the inch and a half bar on the rear. Wind gust were up to 25mph. It made a world of difference in the effort it took to maintain my lane. Still took a little effort. I may go with the one and three eights bar on the front, along with sumo assist springs. That should eliminate all sway.

  • Will A Hellwig Rear Anti-Sway Bar Help With Stability While Towing with A 2022 Ford Expedition XL
Hey Michael, Adding to or enhancing your suspension would help with body roll and side-to-side movement. When it comes to anti-sway bars you'll want to go with whichever is the thickest. The Hellwig # HE74GR is 7/8" thick so you can measure your factory bar and see if it's thicker. You could also install some Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1168R in the rear and front # CSS-1168F to stiffen up the suspension and also help with load leveling support.

  • Does The Hellwig Rear Anti-Sway Bar HE74GR Fir A 2025 Ford Expedition?
Hello Nick. Sadly, no it does not. The Hellwig Rear Anti-Sway Bar # HE74GR will fit the 2007 - 2024 Ford Expedition. It does not carry over to the 2025-current model. The mounts changed.

  • Choosing Between SumoSprings and Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar for 2021 Ford Expedition Max
Hey Dan! What are you experiencing when you tow your trailers? If you're getting rear sag with a little bit of body roll I would get the Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1168R for the additional suspension support. If you're primarily getting a lot of side-to-side movement and it feels like you're unstable I would say the Hellwig Rear Anti-Sway Bar # HE74GR is the better choice. I use a 2020 Expedition for towing and the biggest problem for me is rear sag. However, that may be different for you depending...

  • Suspension Enhancement Options For A 2015 Ford Expedition Experiencing Body Roll While Towing
Air springs offer a more fine-tuned way to help reduce sag since you can adjust the psi level to help offset your trailer's specific tongue weight, whereas the shocks are really only going to help with jarring bumps in the road. Anti-sway bars are also a good option to help prevent body roll with your vehicle. You'll always have a slight amount of sag, even with a weight distribution hitch, but you can typically get within an inch or two of your factory ride height. For the rear anti-sway...

  • What Causes Trailer Sway Above 50 MPH
Hey Brent, persistent trailer sway at around 50 mph is due to not enough tongue weight in the trailer relative to the total trailer weight. You would need the tongue weight to be between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight to get that type of sway to stop. There are other less likely reasons for the sway as well if the tongue weight is good. It can also be that the nose of the trailer is up too high or that there is a suspension component that is damaged.
